I am a teacher at Ashraya Initiative for Children in Pune. For the last 2 years I’ve been teaching English there. Becoming a teacher wasn’t always my plan, but it was my passion to do something for society and I thought that imparting an excellent education to children from Ashraya was the way to go- especially since I love children. I enjoy being with students from varied financial and emotional backgrounds and find it easy to build relationships with them. Watching my students grow and get better fills my heart with immense joy.

I teach students across Grades 5, 6 and 7. My students struggle with basic comprehension as English is not their primary language. As a result, their expression of thoughts and communication is a struggle. I wanted to do something to improve their English comprehension skills, and thought books could help!

With Pratham’s Library-in-a-Classroom, I will be able to expose my students to books catering to different reading levels. A book in each child’s hand will build an environment which is meaningful and foster curiosity and learning. The funds raised through this campaign will be used to help me encourage reading in the classroom. A love for reading may change these children’s future, and you have the power to make it happen.

**Your donation will fund a program which helps teachers effectively use their new solutions in the classroom. Program support includes weekly calls, observations, feedback and troubleshooting advice.
